You may need FCA authorisation if your business offers credit, allows customers to pay through third-party finance or introduces customers to a lender. Certain exemptions and exclusions may apply, so the answer depends on your activities, customer types and finance arrangements. “Consumer credit licence” is still commonly used, but businesses now apply to the Financial Conduct Authority for consumer credit authorisation and the appropriate regulatory permissions.
Package 1 (Permission Analysis) is designed for firms unsure whether authorisation is required and seeking written guidance. Package 2 (Application Review) is for businesses that have already prepared their own application and want a pre-submission review for gaps or inconsistencies. Package 3 (Application Preparation) is for businesses that require a complete, tailored, submission-ready limited-permission application pack prepared from scratch.
The package includes the agreed core documentation required for your limited-permission application, such as your regulatory business plan, permission mapping, end-to-end customer journey, Compliance Manual, compliance monitoring programme, Consumer Duty policy, complaints-handling procedure, and vulnerable customer policy. It also includes FCA Connect submission guidance and a pre-submission quality review.
You will need to provide accurate information and supporting evidence about your business, controllers and proposed activities. This may include CVs, DBS checks, company and controller information, financial information, lender or provider agreements and other supporting records. We prepare the agreed application documents using the information you provide.
Our professional fees are fixed at £350 plus VAT (£420 total) for Permission Analysis, £650 plus VAT (£780 total) for Application Review, and £1,150 plus VAT (£1,380 total) for Application Preparation. The statutory FCA application fee is separate and is paid directly to the FCA upon submission through FCA Connect.
The five-working-day preparation period begins once we have received all required information, evidence and completed questionnaires from you. Delays in providing complete information may extend the delivery date.
No. Our service ends once your application pack has been prepared, quality reviewed and you have been guided through submission on FCA Connect. Responding to FCA questions or preparing additional documents requested during the FCA’s assessment is not included.
